North Kelvin United

North Kelvin Utd was originally started as a humble adult amateur team by a group of residents living in the North Kelvinside area of Glasgow back in 1999.

Since then the club has grown into a Scottish FA Community Quality Mark Club have taken numerous youth teams from grassroots through to 11-aside.

Head of Football

Tony Massie

"I have previously held roles in professional youth coaching at St Mirren, Dumbarton and Queens Park and before going to work overseas I held the post of International Soccer Academy Manager for Celtic FC for nearly 5 years.

The next step in my coaching career took me to the USA and my focus was on the U13-19s Boys pathway. The aim was to try and develop players to play at the highest level they could play at, whether that was Professional Youth or Collegiate level football. In the period I was there, just over 40 players graduated into College football and 12 players were invited into pro youth clubs to see if they could make the grade. From there, 4 players were offered the opportunity to signed to play pro youth across 3 different clubs.

I believe in creating an environment where players earn the right to outperform the opponent by placing value in hard work and being good team mates. From a bigger picture standpoint, I like to consider the club first, the development stage second (Small sided games, or 11 a-side) and the team third. This thought process should be encouraged through all players and coaches, to foster a feeling of belonging to something bigger than just their team.

I currently hold the UEFA A Licence, but I'm interested in continuing my journey with further coaching qualifications in the future."
